Being the epicentre for most of your household activities, the importance of a well-designed and well-furnished kitchen is paramount. It is where you would do all your cooking, store your food ingredients, and do the majority of the cleaning. In modern homes, kitchens also double up as the dining area. So, the question is how to best furnish a kitchen that will fulfil all its functional needs, but also be very welcoming and stylish in the eyes?
There is no one answer to that question. Depending on your needs, you can build a kitchen from the ground-up, or opt for an integrated designer kitchen solution such as Poliform kitchens. Whatever you decide upon, though, you should follow a set of basic principles that we discuss in detail below. Adding a countertop water filter would also be great if the design matches your kitchen. Think About What You Have
It’s obvious that you have to design and furnish your kitchen based on the space and the surface that you have got. After all, this is what determines the kind and the size of the cabinets and furniture you would need. Besides, you may already have a kitchen, some parts of which you may want to keep and get integrated into the design. The positioning of your wiring and water pipes should also be considered carefully in order to minimize the effort you would need to put into it.
If you have a smaller space, it’s best to get down to the basics, streamlining everything to its core purposes. If you have a larger space, you have more flexibility in choosing between an expansive design or an island kitchen with its own living area. The counter space should also be proportionate to space. Furthermore, don’t forget to ensure you have enough space left for free movement while working or gathering in the kitchen.
Consider Different Storage Solutions
Along with kitchen appliances, kitchen storage is one of the most important things to consider while furnishing the kitchen. Depending on your space and the overall setup, you can choose from classic exposed or covered cabinets, contemporary vertical storage, wall mounted geometric shapes, and so on. With a vertical storage plan, the kitchen may benefit from an excellent flow; but may not be suitable if you have kids in the house. Some designs of Poliform kitchens also provide creative solutions to the handles, adding one more detail to play with.
Different Materials for Different Purpose
In general, kitchen furniture should be made with materials that withstand the rigours of its multi-dimensional nature. Yet, there are a few different options you can play with. A quartz countertop can be a great attention grabber, while a granite countertop would require very little maintenance. If you have space, you also add a rustic wood dining table for a chic look or some advanced panel designs for a futuristic edge.
